When the police arrived, they found the severely damaged car, which had knocked over several concrete pillars in front of the building and ultimately got stuck in it. At this point, a 24-year-old Romanian citizen from the Freistadt district was in the driver’s seat trying to get the vehicle moving again.
The police asked the driver to turn the engine off and get out. He stated that he was a carer and that the car belonged to the man he looked after in the Freistadt district. He also denied having driven the car himself. This is said to have been a friend who ran away earlier. The driver obviously looked drunk, he refused an alcohol test. His driver’s license was temporarily taken away and the car had to be salvaged by the fire brigade.
