A man fell victim to a shark on Friday off the coast of Morro Bay, California. It was reported on December 25 by CNN.
“Harbor, police and fire authorities have responded to reports of a male victim found lifeless on the beach after a shark attacker was pulled out of the water,” the local police department said.
According to Harbor Director Eric Endersby, officials found the male surfer at 10:48 p.m. PT (21:48 GMT) on the beach in Morro Bay State Park.
Endersby said the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim and is working to notify his next of kin before revealing the victim’s name.
The harbor director called the incident terrible and noted that at the moment, due to the weather, surfing conditions are not good, so there are not many surfers. However, access to water was still closed for security reasons.
Earlier in April, a shark attacked a surfer off the coast of Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia in the South Pacific. A 53-year-old man died as a result of a predator attack. In February, a 57-year-old man was also killed in a predator attack in New Caledonia.
