The town council of Obertraun decided on the budget for 2022. It provides for a surplus of 13,000 euros – but there are some question marks. “Whether the result holds depends largely on how the pandemic continues,” says Obertraun’s mayor Egon Höll (SPÖ).
In the past year, Covid not only weighed heavily on the population, but also on the municipal budget. Not only the water and sewer fees collapsed. The recently introduced parking management system also generated less income than expected.
Nevertheless, investments could also be made with the 2022 budget plan, including a new municipal tractor for 118,000 euros and a new rescue boat for the fire brigade. However, applications for subsidies could also be treated positively. “We can only show our respect for the associations and corporations and thank them for their dedication and commitment in the area,” said Mayor Höll.
In the run-up to the meeting, the community representatives were able to inspect the former primary school building. It was converted by the new owner into a residential building with 6 rental and 3 condominiums and these are now ready for occupancy. The municipality has contractually secured the procurement law – including an upper rent limit – for the 6 rental apartments. The income from the sale of the building will be used as own funds for the construction yard tractors and the new fire fighting vehicle of the local fire brigade.
