For many years, the Hausruck Challenge, which starts and finishes in Geboltskirchen, has been one of the most popular running competitions in the region. Next Saturday, May 11th, it’s that time again: In the supreme discipline, 26.2 kilometers with around 420 meters of altitude have to be mastered. Most of the running takes place in the Hausruckwald. There are a total of five aid stations for runners along the route.
Last year it looked like a start-to-finish victory for LAG Ried athlete Jürgen Aigner for a long time. In the end, Aigner was intercepted by Robert Reiter from LG WSV St. Wolfgang. The route can also be completed as a team of two.
In addition to the strenuous main run, this year for the first time there is a 6.6 kilometer long “Light Challenge” along the “Green Path” between Haag am Hausruck and Geboltskirchen. This competition is part of the Sport Streicher Running Tour, which consists of a total of eight competitions in the Grieskirchen and Vöcklabruck districts. There is also a 6.6 kilometer long Nordic walking competition and various children’s competitions with distances between 100 meters and 1.2 kilometers. A cake buffet awaits participants at the finish and there is a bouncy castle for the children. Registration closes on May 8th, late entries are possible for an additional fee.
