This was laid down in an ordinance that was only issued on December 23rd. Essentially, there are tightenings for people from the countries Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway, which were severely affected by the Omikron variant at an early stage. You are only allowed into the country with a third vaccination without quarantine. This group of people from virus variant areas, as they are in many countries in Africa, can enter the country with a valid PCR test in addition to the third prick and thus also use the tourism facilities in Austria. What is new according to the regulation is that the protein-based vaccine Novavax, which is expected to be delivered in this country in the coming weeks, is now also recognized as a vaccine for entry.
The new protective measures regulation, which contains the unpleasant news for the catering industry, was also only issued on the day before Christmas Eve. Accordingly, the curfew after the public holidays, i.e. from December 27th, will be brought forward by one hour to 10 p.m. The curfew, which was actually planned to be lifted for New Year’s Eve, is no longer applicable.
The regulation does not contain any surprises with regard to the new rules for meetings and events. Smaller celebrations such as weddings, christenings or birthday parties are only allowed to attend 25 people and only if they have been vaccinated or have recovered.
The 2G proof is also sufficient for events with up to 500 participants with assigned seats. For events with up to 1,000 visitors, a PCR test, which must not be older than 72 hours, is then required. A maximum of 2,000 people are allowed at events, so as a participant you not only have to be tested and vaccinated or recovered, but also already boosted. According to the text of the regulation, masks are only to be worn indoors at events.
