Three fire departments (Schärding, Brunnenthal and Wallensham) with a total of 62 emergency services were deployed in the evening hours of Monday, May 6, to extinguish the fire in a warehouse and workshop in Brunnenthal. When the emergency services arrived, part of the hall, including vehicles, was already fully ablaze. The firefighters’ work was made more difficult by ongoing explosions from tires, spray cans and other objects. Before the firefighters could start fighting the fire, they had to bring gas bottles, an inert gas welding machine and several fuel canisters from the hall to safety. Red Cross employees were also present on site. They looked after a slightly injured person. Two firefighters also had to seek medical treatment with minor injuries. The operation ended in the second half of the night, with the comrades from the Brunnenthal volunteer fire department carrying out regular checks until the early hours of the morning. A fire expert was called in and began the investigation yesterday.
