The Upper Austria State Police Department and the Upper Austria Water Rescue announced this in broadcasts. The experienced water sports enthusiast fell out of the boat at a dangerous point during a whitewater tour in the Gimbach and was no longer able to free himself from the whirlpool because of the strong eddy water.
At the time of the accident, special water rescue workers were training at Wilden Lauffen near Bad Ischl and promptly made their way to the operational area around 20 kilometers away.
There, first responders and later members of the mountain rescue and fire brigade resuscitated the Czech. A rescue helicopter picked up the man from the impassable terrain and transported him to Linz. The Czech died there a little later in the hospital.
