More than 1.4 million people in 425 towns in the state of Rio Grande do Sul were affected by the flood. Over 230,000 people had to leave their homes.
The Air Force brought 25 tons of relief supplies to the region, including medicine, water treatment plants and food. “The work continues,” wrote President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the news platform X. “Brazil is united in the reconstruction of Rio Grande do Sul.”
It rained again in the provincial capital Porto Alegre on Wednesday afternoon (local time). The Rio Grande do Sul Civil Defense issued a warning for heavy rain and strong winds with speeds exceeding 90 kilometers per hour for much of the state. There was also a risk of thunderstorms and hailstorms.
