To mark the tenth anniversary of the Diversity Charter, the European Union launched Diversity Month in May 2020. This year the focus is on “building connections.”
Organizations across Europe are invited to promote diversity and act accordingly. And of course this invitation also goes to the JKU: “We want to live by appreciation, regardless of gender identity,” says the Kepler University. “People with and without disabilities, people from Austria and other parts of the world. We all make up the JKU together, with individually different strengths and weaknesses. Whether as students, teachers or in administration: together we want the best possible university for everyone. “
At the JKU, Diversity Month is about “raising awareness as an anti-discrimination strategy.” In addition, people at all university levels should be made aware of the issue of equality. A press release states that “the JKU would like to celebrate Diversity Month every year and thereby offer a long-term opportunity for reflection and initiative in its own field of action.” There is an exhibition about this in Hall B of the Kepler Building, organized by the Department for Gender and Diversity Management.
There will also be campus tours on the topic of “Women in Research”. Among other things, the stories of women at the JKU are told and female researchers are brought to the fore. Registrations are under gd@jku.at possible.
