A 47-year-old from the Perg district was driving towards Waldhausen with his wife (45) at 2 p.m. when, according to his own statements, a cat suddenly ran across the road. He tried to evade, lost control of his car and went off the road to the left. The car crashed over an embankment and both front airbags were deployed.

According to witness statements, the car caught fire immediately after the accident. Following drivers were able to bring the fire in the engine compartment under control using a hand-held fire extinguisher and quickly extinguish it. According to police, the couple was able to free themselves from the wreckage of the accident. The 45-year-old was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The L1436 was closed for 20 minutes. The car was totaled and there was minor damage to the land in the area where the accident occurred. An alcohol test showed the driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.0.
