In Turkey, a girl tied the knot with a guy who doused her face with acid two years ago. This was reported on December 24 by the New York Post.
It is noted that 20-year-old Berfin Ozek met with 23-year-old Kazim Ozan Celtic, but quarrels constantly broke out between them. The couple broke up.
Before the attack on the girl, Celtic shouted: “If I cannot own you, then no one will be,” and then poured acid on the girl, which melted the tissues of her face, neck and partially made her blind.
The offender was arrested, but he showered his beloved with messages of reconciliation and begged for forgiveness. The girl succumbed to persuasion and withdrew the complaint, stating that she loved Celtic.
The incident received widespread publicity in the local press, and under public pressure, Ozek again filed a complaint with the police. Celtic, who doused her with acid, received 13.5 years in prison, but was later released.
Immediately after that, the guy made an offer to Berfin, which she happily accepted.
The marriage caused outrage from the bride’s family, whose members said that no one had consulted with them.
“I fought for her for several years, and now it’s all in vain,” said the girl’s father.
Earlier, on December 10, a guy poured acid on his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend on the embankment of the Griboyedov Canal in St. Petersburg. Both were hospitalized with chemical burns. The girl’s condition was assessed as grave, and that of the boys – as satisfactory. The next day, it was reported that the police had detained the suspect. The defendant said that he repented of what he had done, and explained that in this way he was taking revenge for the betrayal.
