The crime was committed on Friday around 5:15 p.m., the police said on Sunday. The young man’s life was not in danger and he was able to leave the hospital and be questioned. However, there was no trace of two young people, one of whom had been stabbed with a sharp object.
The crime scene was a park near Simmeringer Hauptstrasse where the 21-year-old was out with his girlfriend. There was a verbal argument with the two unknown young people. When the 21-year-old was concentrating on one of the two opponents, the second suddenly walked up to him and gave him a “punch” in the stomach, as the victim initially suspected. The 21-year-old felt an unusually sharp pain and shortly afterwards noticed that his sweater was bloody, said police spokeswoman Julia Schick. The person concerned was therefore unable to describe the crime and the perpetrators fled.
Doctor diagnosed stab wound
The 21-year-old and his girlfriend went to a nearby doctor’s office. The doctor diagnosed a stab wound and notified the rescue service and the police. The injured person was taken to a hospital by the Vienna professional rescue service. An immediate search for the two suspects was unsuccessful. The State Criminal Police Office took over the further investigation.
Injured in the head with a knife
Another stab wound occurred on Saturday evening in Vienna-Ottakring. Two men had consumed alcohol in an apartment and then argued. A 23-year-old is said to have stabbed a 21-year-old in the head. The argument spilled onto the street, where a passerby called the police. The officers seized a kitchen knife from the 23-year-old. An electric stun gun was also found in the apartment, which is said to have been used to attack the 21-year-old.
The injured man was taken to hospital after first aid was provided by professional rescue services. There was no danger to life. The accused was arrested and was still being held by the police on Sunday. He was banned from entering and approaching the building and was given a temporary ban on weapons.
