The market town of Andorf will again be in a state of emergency next weekend. Traditionally, the Andorf Beautification and Folk Festival Association (VVA) organizes the annual Andorf Folk Festival at Pentecost. VVA chairman Johann Hosner and his organizational team have put together a colorful and diverse program for the four days of the festival – from Friday, May 17th to Monday, May 20th. “We are pleased that we can once again offer a folk festival with many highlights for the entire family this year,” says Hosner.
Past and future
In Andorf, the focus is primarily on the collaborative work of the many local clubs. These will also be brought before the curtain on Saturday at the official opening at 7 p.m. The clubs move into the festival tent with a parade that begins at 6 p.m. FC Andorf will be hosting the numerous guests there in the now tried and tested manner.
The festival weekend begins on Friday with the children’s afternoon in the amusement park; the evening belongs to the clubs and companies in the festival tent. The next day, on Saturday morning, classic car fans get their money’s worth. Hundreds of “vintage” vehicle owners have already confirmed their attendance. “They will give the festival grounds the atmosphere of days gone by,” says Hosner. Tradition and customs are also the focus of the customs event “Four Quarters Has Landl” in the folk festival pavilion on Sunday (3 p.m.).
“Fixed point in the region”
While these events tend to focus on the past, on Sunday the (sporting) future comes into play: the youngsters can put their skills to the test in the children’s run at the old sports field. In terms of sport, the folk festival will also conclude on Monday with the performance of the acrobatic show team “Akro(e)motion” from Münzkirchen.
“The Andorfer Volksfest has a great appeal that extends far beyond the municipal boundaries and is therefore a fixed point in the social life of the region,” says Mayor Karl Buchinger. “The VVA is doing a great job here.”
