Ronald Pommer: Don’t be fooled

The purchasing and sales departments often don’t have the best understanding within a company. At least business IT specialist and engineering psychologist Ronald Pommer (52) has had this experience often enough in his 25 years as a knowledge worker. “Good interaction between these units in particular is important for the success of a company,” says Pommer. In order to improve this, he developed a training program that deals with exactly this interface and took part in the International Trainer Congress on the campus of the Free University of Berlin. With success: With his presentation, the business IT specialist and engineering psychologist who lives in Arbing won the European Trainer Award in Silver from among 450 participants.

“If you come from the country like me, you often have a starting disadvantage compared to urban educational academies. That’s why I’m happy about this award in several ways,” says Pommer. After all, the European Trainer Prize, awarded at a gala at the Max Planck Institute, is the highest award that can be received in the commercial education sector in Europe. In his concept, he tried to reconcile current scientific findings with the needs of companies and to formulate them in a practice-oriented manner. His teaching activities at the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria and at the Metropolitan University of London benefited him.

The Mühlviertler prepared for the trainer congress together with Jürgen Eisserer and Luisa Kirchmayr for more than half a year: “We supported and challenged each other. Without our strong solidarity, we would have had no chance in the international field of participants.” In doing so, the trio from Upper Austria lived out the triad that Pommer repeatedly preaches in his educational programs: working better together.
