On Wednesday, the EU Commission criticized the night driving ban, the driving ban for “certain rail-related goods”, the winter driving ban on Saturdays and the block or metered handling. These measures are not suitable for ensuring environmental protection, traffic flow and security of supply.
Austria remains “ready to talk”
Austrian state and federal policy towards Brussels continued to be united. In a joint reaction, Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) and Tyrol’s Governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP) emphasized in unison, on the one hand, that they remained “ready to talk” and, on the other hand, that the Tyrolean “emergency measures” were necessary and legally compliant.
