160,000 corona tests in the test streets in Linz

The year is drawing to a close and it is usually time to take stock – this is also the case with Corona. As the city of Linz has now announced, more than two thirds of the people in Linz have been vaccinated since the start of the corona vaccinations in January 2021. Currently, 67.6 percent of the state capital’s residents have a valid vaccination certificate (as of December 24th). Almost 40 percent of them have already taken the “third trick”. This year, 22,686 vaccinations were carried out in December alone.

Almost 3,000 vaccinations per day are possible in Linz; these are offered at fixed vaccination locations, in pop-up vaccination streets as well as in the vaccination bus. Special campaigns such as vaccinations in the Banksy exhibition in the tobacco factory or Family Sunday in the New Town Hall are particularly popular. 432 children between the ages of five and eleven got their “corona sting” from the latter. The Mayor of Linz, Klaus Luger (SP), is confident that “with the admission for younger people and now also for children, a considerable step” has been taken in combating the crisis. His special thanks go to the more than 1000 employees of the emergency organizations, the magistrate and the state for their tireless efforts.

In the state capital, vaccinations are not only diligently carried out, but tests are also carried out. Almost 160,000 corona tests, exactly 158,000 antigen tests, have so far been carried out in the city’s test streets in 2021. The mobile test bus was also in use in Linz from February to June, where almost 27,000 antigen tests were carried out alone. In addition, PCR tests are now also offered in Linz’s two Volkshäuser Ebelsberg and Dornach stores, where over 4,000 supervised PCR gargle tests have already been counted within two weeks.
