Richard Lugner (91) “still has a lot to do” before his 6th wedding

Richard Lugner gets married for the 6th time at the age of 91.

“There is still a lot to do,” said the builder on Monday. After all, the location has already been decided: Lugner will marry his partner Simone Reiländer in the early afternoon in the Steinernes Saal 2 in the Vienna City Hall.

The celebrations are strictly timed. The couple was scheduled to arrive at the town hall at 1:50 p.m., where the wedding ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Simone Reiländer’s sister, Sonja, acts as the bride’s maid of honor. Richard Lugner is accompanied by his son Alexander.

Vintage buses and police escort

After the ceremony, guests will be taken in vintage buses – and a police escort – to the Palais Auersperg, where a reception will take place from 3 p.m. The program items “cutting the wedding cake” (4:35 p.m.) and the bridal dance (5:00 p.m.) are scheduled here. The festival ends at 7 p.m.

The father of four did not want to allow criticism of his new wedding to arise in advance. “Every relationship I enter into brings financial benefits for my partner. To prevent that, I would have to continue living alone, I don’t want that and that’s how we found each other,” said the master builder.

Stars are favorable

In addition, the stars were also on his side. While wife number five, Cathy, was qualified as “not suitable” by star astrologer Gerda Rogers, Simone’s verdict was “ideally suitable”. “That’s true too. We go out together. She takes care of my overgrown garden and grows organic vegetables,” said the builder.

Lugner is very experienced with weddings: he married his first man, Christine Gmeiner, in 1961. “She was my childhood sweetheart,” said the builder. The couple separated after 17 years. In 1979 he married again. But this connection only lasted four years. “Cornelia (Hahn, note) was taken away from me by the then OPEC Secretary General,” said Lugner.

Marriage to Cathy was “a flop”

This was followed by marriage number three to Susanne Dietrich. The relationship ended tragically: in 1984, shortly after the divorce, Dietrich fell into a coma after cosmetic surgery and died. Christina “Mausi” Lugner, probably the builder’s best-known partner, followed. The couple married in 1991 and hit the society stage together for years. But this marriage also ended in 2007.

On September 13, 2014, Lugner married German playmate Cathy Schmitz at a fifth wedding staged as a media spectacle in Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace. This was over again after just two years. “That was a flop. Apart from Simone, I only loved Christine and Christina,” said the builder.
