The accident occurred when the 40-year-old from Lower Austria was completing a filling process from a truck tanker. When disconnecting the hose from the tanker, the man was covered in hot, liquid bitumen. The substance, which is mainly used as a binding agent in asphalt, flowed into the 40-year-old’s shoes.
