Uber is rolling out services throughout Austria

Austria boss Martin Essl

Austria managing director Martin Essl announced this on Wednesday. The app is currently launching for Vorarlberg and Carinthia as well as Eisenstadt. St. Pölten will follow in the coming weeks. This means that Uber is represented in all federal states – ten years after its launch in Vienna.

“We are looking for partnerships,” said Essl. This applies not only to larger cities – at least in Austria – but also to local district towns. Participating taxi companies charge 5 to 18 percent commission per trip. About Vorarlberg and Carinthia, Essl said that his company sees “great potential among residents but also among tourists in both federal states.” Overall, they want to expand the e-vehicle fleet.

When asked, Essl said that Uber taxes its profits properly in this country. The company does not provide information on profits or sales. The mother to whom royalties flow is based in Amsterdam. Essl emphasized that the approach is no different than that of Austrian companies that operate abroad.

A survey that Uber recently conducted among 2,000 domestic users of the app showed that people from 172 nations used the Uber app in Austria. There are currently 4,000 to 5,000 drivers (among others) working for this ride-hailing company.
