For the test, the consumer advocates purchased 9 models from stationary and online retailers. In the first step, they tested how easy or difficult the products were to assemble. The driving ability was then put to the test: The testers drove on asphalt roads and on rough terrain, tried cornering quickly and also applied the brakes.
In order to assess how securely the belts held, they strapped two wooden dummies into the bicycle trailers. Most expensive trailer as test winner
The conclusion: The most expensive trailer, the model from Thule at 949 euros, was actually ahead. It also impressed in all test scenarios when it came to driving ability. The workmanship of the frame even received top marks. The only flaw: the trailer is not rainproof.
The trailer also received an overall grade of “very good”. Queridoo. There were deductions for a possible risk of injury in the interior of the screw heads and the workmanship of the frame was rated as “satisfactory”.
Still rated as “very good” overall Hamax Avenue and the Cube-Trailer rated. The driveability of the Hamax was consistently good. With Cube it was actually very good in three points – this bike trailer was only unable to impress on rough terrain.

The four trailers with an overall rating of “average” have different advantages and disadvantages. In two models, the test showed that the straps on the dolls used in the test could not be fastened correctly. Depending on your driving behavior, this can be an exclusion criterion for parents.
Cheapest model comparatively good
The cheapest trailer performed comparatively well in the test Fisherman on the ability to drive. With a price of 240 euros, it is more than 700 euros cheaper than the most expensive model. And it is one of only two models tested that received the “rainproof” rating.
