“The man was taken into custody, his mental state was assessed. He was placed in a specialized institution in accordance with the law on mental health and is under the supervision of doctors, ”the statement said.
The police also confirmed that the crossbow was seized from the 19-year-old man. He is suspected of entering a protected area, as well as illegal possession of weapons.
The arrest of an armed man was reported on December 25. The royals were informed of the incident.
Earlier Sky News, citing Buckingham Palace, said that Elizabeth II will spend Christmas at Windsor Castle, and not at Sandringham Palace, where this holiday is traditionally celebrated. Royals will also come to Windsor during the holidays. The celebration has been postponed to Windsor for the second year in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic.
