The fire brigades from the Urfahr-Umwelt district went out for a major operation shortly after midday on Wednesday: fire broke out on a farm in the municipality of Herzogsdorf around 1 p.m. “Because of the column of smoke that was visible from afar, it had to be assumed that the fire was already spreading,” said the Gramastetten fire department, which, like twelve other fire departments, rushed to the scene of the fire in the town of Gerling. Alert level two has been declared.
Firefighters prevented anything worse from happening
The fire broke out in a workshop for reasons that are still unclear. Thanks to their rapid intervention, the emergency services were able to prevent the flames from spreading to other parts of the building. However, there was considerable material damage in the workshop itself. Nobody got hurt.
