The British Armed Forces have a plan to evacuate their military from the territory of Ukraine in the event of an aggravation of the situation. This was reported on December 26 by the Daily Express.
“The military leadership must conduct a comprehensive review of the (British training mission. – Ed.) Orbital to ensure that all United Kingdom personnel can be safely withdrawn,” the publication said.
It is reported that most of the British troops in Ukraine are located in the city of Yavoriv, Lviv region, and a group of headquarters officers is in Kiev. According to journalists’ sources, they should head to the border with Poland.
In the event of an escalation around Ukraine, the order for the evacuation will be sent by the head of the British Joint Operations Directorate of the headquarters, Colonel General Charlie Strickland. It is noted that his subordinates are watching the situation.
The material also says that more than a hundred United Kingdom military personnel are training Ukrainian fighters.
On December 7, CNN reported that the American authorities are studying the possibility and methods of evacuating their citizens from Ukraine amid rumors of an alleged Russian invasion. It was noted that the Pentagon is considering various options for the export of fellow citizens – from the evacuation of “minor civil servants” to more ambitious measures.
In recent weeks, a number of Western media outlets have reported about the alleged plans of the Russian Federation to “invade” Ukraine. So, on December 4, the American newspaper The Washington Post, citing officials in the US administration, reported that Russia allegedly intends to invade Ukraine at the beginning of next year, using “up to 175 thousand troops.”
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov called such messages stuffing. According to him, the publication of such articles is “empty, groundless escalation of tension.”
On December 23, during a press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin answered a question about Russia’s alleged plans to “invade” Ukraine. According to him, such statements give the impression that the Ukrainian side is “preparing a third operation” in Donbass. As the president pointed out, “there is a feeling that we are being warned.”
