Ukrainian women will go to military training at will, and they plan to make the registration procedure remote. This was announced on December 26 by the commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces, Valery Zaluzhny.
“Firstly, we are not talking about the conscription or mandatory mobilization of women into the army, as some media have already stated. Secondly, such a procedure for registration is being prepared, which would make it possible to implement remotely and online as much as possible of the procedures … We also plan to introduce a transitional norm concerning the fees (exercises) of persons liable for military service, namely: women will go to training only at will “, – he wrote on Facebook.
Zaluzhny added that thanks to the innovation, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will know what kind of specialists there are in the country. In addition, it is a step towards women wishing to do military service.
Earlier on the same day, it was reported that a petition was registered on the website of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky demanding to cancel the order of the Ministry of Defense, according to which hundreds of thousands of women would be put on military registration.
Activists called the situation “disgrace” and “bullying of women.”
On December 17, an order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine came into force, approving the list of industries and professions for which working women should be put on military registration and be on it. The list contains 35 professional areas, each of which, in fact, represents dozens of separate specialties of economic activity.
On December 26, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained that pregnant women and women with small children would also be registered for military service.
