Stadtbetriebe Steyr (SBS) has a new managing director: Markus Rechling-Greimel prevailed in the hearing against four other applicants. The FH graduate, who worked for the Austrian subsidiary of the German global market leader Knorr-Bremse for more than twelve years, most recently as head of product development for the IFE Automatic Door Systems division in Kematen/Ybbs, will succeed Peter Hochgatterer, who is expected to… will retire at the end of November. The Steyr city senate and the city utilities supervisory board agreed on this personnel decision yesterday. A total of forty people applied for the position of managing director.
In a statement from the city it is said that the decision was made to choose Markus Rechling-Greimel because he has experience as a manager and at the same time as a technician he is able to overcome the challenges of decarbonization and the city’s path to climate neutrality would bring. Among other things, the city companies will in future promote projects to generate energy through hydropower, photovoltaics and geothermal energy.
Rechling-Greimel will be solely responsible for the areas of transport, energy, water, leisure, waste and burial. He also has technical management and planning responsibility in accordance with the requirements of the supervisory board and the articles of association. The Steyr municipal company currently employs 145 people.
