Good news for the Upper Austrian third division clubs Vöcklamarkt and Junge Wikinger: The first relegated team, league rival Bad Gleichenberg, has already been determined. The Styrians are voluntarily withdrawing from the third highest division. “Unfortunately, we were unable to find long-term young officials who would continue football at this level in Bad Gleichenberg,” says coach Peter Hochleitner.
As the penultimate team, the Styrians are currently in dire need of relegation in terms of sport – with the voluntary withdrawal they will be ranked last in the Central Regional League at the end of the season, meaning that the Upper Austrian teams fighting to stay in the league will only leave two other third division teams behind them, with three relegated teams currently would have to in order to be saved. “Any less competitor is good,” says sports director Omer Tarabic, whose team is hosting neighbors ASK Klagenfurt today. “This is a team that flies a little under the radar. Very strong with some ex-professionals in the ranks.”
Important points in the fight to stay in the league are also at stake for the Young Vikings: The Innviertel team will be playing in the amateur duel at LASK.
