Strong winds made the rescue difficult

The two women tried to find their way out of the impassable terrain for about an hour before they finally alerted the mountain rescue service at around 7 p.m. At an altitude of 1,440 meters above sea level, the Ebensee mountain rescue service and the Traunkirchen mountain rescue service, together with the Linz police, found the two Hausruckviertel women.

Strong winds prevented a rescue with a rope by the police helicopter. At an intermediate landing site on the Vorderen Langbathsee in Ebensee, an alpine police officer from the Gmunden police boarded the helicopter, which was dropped off in a hover together with an air rescuer below the summit of the Brunnkogel. They found the two women in the area. The helicopter brought all four safely into the valley while hovering.
