During a dispute over House reforms, Taiwan lawmakers pushed and punched each other. The fight takes place days before the president-elect Lai Ching-Te take office without a legislative majority.
The session had already started with tension since before the votes began to be cast, legislators shoved and shouted outside Parliament. Everything got worse after a legislator from the ruling party, the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP)HE he would steal the bill and run away of the enclosure.

Taiwan: the reason why the fight broke out in Parliament
Lai Ching-Te will take office next Monday after having won the elections in January. However, his Democratic Progressive Party (PDP) lost its majority in Parliament. The opposition, the Kuomintang (KMT)has more seats, but not enough to form a majority on its own, so it has been working with the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP).
In this way, the opposition seeks to give Parliament greater powers of control over the Government. However, the president-elect’s party denounces that the KMT and TPP are trying to impose their proposals, avoiding the usual consultation process, which is why they are described as doing ““unconstitutional abuse of power”.
