SV Ried: 1-0 win despite being long outnumbered

Mark Grosse scored from the penalty spot.

SV Guntamatic Ried had to make do with one man less for 70 minutes in yesterday’s home game in the 2nd football league against the amateurs from Sturm Graz – but the Innviertel team still managed a 1-0 win.

Coach Maximilian Senft’s team took command right from the start: Oliver Steurer (6th), David Bumberger (14th) and Nikki Havenaar (16th) missed the best chances in the early stages.

Even an early exclusion of Benjamin Sammer – the 19-year-old was in the starting line-up for Arjan Malic, but was shown a red card after 23 minutes for a rude foul – could not slow down the home team: when he hit the bar after a free kick from Mark Grosse and a Havenaar -Header Ried was close to taking the lead. This was achieved in the 42nd minute: Grosse scored the penalty to make it 1-0 after a foul on Ante Bajic.

The lead was never in danger during the second half: Ried goalie Andreas Leitner only had to intervene in the 77th minute when there was a chance for a storm.
