A civil patrol was fatal to a 40-year-old Czech on the Westautobahn early on Friday afternoon: The officers became aware of the car around 1 p.m. in the municipality of Pucking (Linz-Land district) because it was traveling far too fast.
The police officers gave chase, with the Czech racing through the 100 speed zone at up to 183 km/h. During the subsequent driver and vehicle inspection, he showed understanding and admitted that he had been driving far too fast. His driver’s license was temporarily taken away and he was banned from driving, the police said on Friday evening.
