Clutched to the heart, held up triumphantly and kissed with joy – this is how the 30 centimeter tall and 692 gram Mostdipf miniature was received by the prize winners on Thursday. The joy of the award was clearly noticeable among Gertrude Schatzdorfer-Wölfel, Christoph Held and the Folkshilfe musicians Florian Ritt, Gabriel Fröhlich and Paul Slaviczek.

Every year, the OÖNachrichten, in collaboration with the Chamber of Agriculture and the Genussland Upper Austria, honor deserving personalities who – just like Vitus Mostdipf – stand for down-to-earthness, warmth and humor. “The award winners are characterized by the fact that they don’t always take themselves completely seriously and overcome life’s hurdles with a touch of humor,” said OÖN editor-in-chief Susanne Dickstein. “They provide outstanding services for the country and its people.”
Girl power
“I have to catch myself for a moment,” said Gertrude Schatzdorfer-Wölfel, visibly moved when she received her Mostdipf statue from the editor-in-chief. The entrepreneur, who had to join her parents’ metalworking shop almost overnight in 1994, is characterized by her determination and warmth as a boss, as Sigrid Brandstätter, head of the state and domestic policy department, emphasized in her laudatory speech. Schatzdorfer-Wölfel rose to the top in a male-dominated industry because she “isn’t scared at all” – a quality that the entrepreneur also attributes to her apprentices. And because the daughters now have the scepter of the company in their hands and the award winner comes to the office less often, when asked about the future place of honor, the answer was quite clear: “Mostdipf, you’re not coming to the company, you’re coming home with you.”
