Gold hood women help Steyr’s “green lungs”

City Councilor for the Environment Katrin Auer is pleased about further progress in the climate protection campaign “1000 trees for Steyr” supported by the Steyrer Zeitung: “We have now planted more than 500 trees in the city area.”

The latest addition is a lime tree for the “green lung” of Steyr city center, the promenade. This was donated by the Steyr Goldhood Women.

“We consciously chose this location here, not far from the Old Theater, because we wanted to express our connection to the city’s culture and environmental protection,” says chairwoman Pauline Leitner. For her, the climate issue is one of the most burning issues of the time.

The Gold Hood women, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, are not just concerned about the environment. Social commitment is generally a topic close to her heart. As part of the anniversary celebration in April, 5,000 euros were donated to repair the bell of the town parish church, and a young family from Maria Neustift is also being helped after a serious stroke of fate: a mother with two small children is taken care of by the 64-member family after the sudden death of her husband Gold hood association financially supported.
