Dietmar Riegler, the president of Wolfsberger, announced this on Sky on Saturday after the 3-1 home win over WSG Tirol. Kühbauer succeeds Manfred Schmid, from whom the Carinthians will part ways at the end of the season. The 53-year-old Kühbauer from Burgenland worked at WAC between 2013 and 2015, and he has been without a club since his LASK commitment ended in the summer of 2023.

The WAC, which finished first in the Bundesliga qualifying group, will still play with Schmid in its European Cup play-off semi-final on Tuesday (7 p.m.) against Wiener Austria. The Wolves would also contest a possible final against the fifth place in the championship group under Schmid.
