The LASK women’s soccer team actually made it through from the Upper Austrian league to the Bundesliga. With the tailwind of 889 fans at the LASK pitch on Daimlerstrasse, the masterpiece was achieved in the penultimate round of the second highest division. In the early final, the athletes defeated their American pursuers FC Pinzgau Saalfelden 1-0 (1-0) after an impeccable fighting performance.
The “golden goal” went to the captain: Jana Kofler volleyed the ball into the far corner (38th). It goes without saying that the enthusiasm after the final whistle – especially when the plate was handed over – was boundless. “Excellent, that was really fun,” said Mavie Schweitzer. “It’s a great feeling,” cheered coach Benjamin Stolte: “Before the season, no one believed we could do that. We’re such a young team. We defended everything until the end. That will remain in the history of LASK forever.”
It is an almost flawless season with only a single defeat in the championship. The black and whites will take the place of relegated Wacker Innsbruck in the upper house.
No happy ending for blue and white
In any case, the anticipation for two league derbies against the FC Blau-Weiß/Kleinmünchen syndicate is great. The latter was unlucky in Neulengbach. A goal in the 94th minute sealed the 1-2 defeat. Before the break, Almedina Sisic made it 1-1 (28th). The championship title went to St. Pölten again. Two goals from Mateja Zver (47th, 51st) made the 2-1 win at Altach/Vorderland and the double perfect.
