The best young baker comes from Altmünster

The best young bakers are women. At least when it comes to placement in the Upper Austrian craft bakers’ apprentice competition. Second and third places also went to the young female bakers.

Eight young women and just one young man took on the demanding competition tasks.

With full commitment and under time pressure, the apprentices formed rolls, pretzel sticks, pretzels, poppy seed cakes, brioche cakes and various variations of Danish pastries. The young bakers also had to take a written test. Ultimately, creating a large display piece was all about the right mix of artistry and creativity. Magdalena Spießberger from Altmünster was the most skilled.

The young woman from the training company Bakery Reingruber from Gmunden prevailed against the competition, second place went to Greta Theresa Steinhauser from Dietach, and third place on the podium went to Madita Mayr from Wolfern. State Guild Master Reinhard Honeder also revealed the secret recipe for the future: “Joy in the job.”
