According to police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger, the Serbian citizen stood in the way of a car in Kefergasse at 2:40 a.m. and pulled out an airsoft pistol. He wanted to force the two occupants of the car to tolerate the search of the car. The victims asked him to show an ID card.
The 35-year-old refused this and also behaved exceptionally conspicuously. The two men inside the car concluded from this that it was not a real officer, got out of the vehicle, overpowered the alleged law enforcement officer and restrained him until the – real – police officers arrived. They then searched the 35-year-old, who was also apparently impaired, and found a small amount of crystal meth, the airsoft pistol, a butterfly knife and a police vest.

The man was arrested on suspicion of serious coercion, usurpation of authority and drug possession. When asked about his motivation, the 35-year-old said he could not remember the incident because of the incident. He was taken to a correctional facility.
