The former presidential custodian, Alejandro Astesiano, declared before the Prosecutor’s Office for the drug trafficker case Sebastian Marset and the delivery of the Uruguayan passport while he was detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)where he talked about his relationship with Carolina Ache.

At a press conference his lawyer, Ignacio Durán, He assured this Wednesday that Astesiano has no relationship with the former vice chancellor. “He made it clear that he doesn’t know anything, he had no indication of anything, he didn’t hear anything, he doesn’t know Carolina Ache, he doesn’t know Marset,” the lawyer stated regarding the possible relationship between the former custodian of the presidency and Ache.

Suspicions began from an audio that was leaked between the notary convicted of Russian passports and Astesiano. “Hello!!! How are you? How is everything? I imagine it’s a little complicated because of this case that’s popped up now, right??? Hug,” the text recited, according to what La Diaria published. To this, Astesiano responded: “Everything is fine. The one who is going to eat there is the vice minister (Carolina Ache), for something she did. And she still did it while we were there in Dubai.”

Regarding this, the lawyer clarified that Astesiano’s statements were related to what the press was saying about Ache and not because it was related to politics. “He gave a personal opinion, a perception of what he read in the press and what was happening during the interrogation,” he assured and clarified that the former custodian’s statements correspond to what Ache had been speculating about.

“It was simply a comment based on press reports that suggested that she could have some issue linked to the delivery of the passport. It was a mere comment, she did not do it based on a rumor or something she had heard. She did not do it because she had information to toast,” he added.

Ache’s confirmation

In parallel to Astesiano’s statement, the former vice minister assured that she does not know Astesiano either and that the confirmation of the former custodian proves that she was “a scapegoat” in the Marset case. “I learned about it through the press because I don’t know Alejandro Astesiano, I never had any type of communication with him,” he told Informativo Sarandí.

“They can close some hypotheses that I had. In this case I was a scapegoat and Astesiano’s statement perhaps goes along those lines. The prosecutor will have to question him, but they will begin to close certain things,” the policy established. “This case is two years old, it would be positive to think that the cases have a time limit for them to end,” she added.
