Successful search operation on Wednesday evening: A 14-year-old girl left the house at around 3:30 p.m. after a dispute with her parents because there had apparently been problems at school. As of 5:30 p.m., she had not returned home. A search by the parents in the area was unsuccessful. They were very worried and asked the police for help.

At a nearby children’s playground, Smokie was able to pick up the runaway’s trail.
A little later, the 14-year-old was found sitting in a knee-high meadow. The slightly frightened teenager was able to be calmed down and was accompanied home by the service dog handler and Smokie. “The parents’ relief was immense,” says Clemens Lehner-Redl from the state police department to the OÖN.
