“Thank you all”: Foreclosure auction of farm in St. Wolfgang postponed

Sabine Hinterberger can at least smile again. More than 1,000 people from Austria and Germany had donated 220,000 euros for the farmer from St. Wolfgang by Thursday afternoon. Enough to temporarily avert the forced sale of her farm in the Graben district.

“The auction at the Bad Ischl district court was postponed for three months. “We assume 99 percent of the time that the debts can now be paid in full and Sabine can keep her farm,” says Friedrich Brunauer. As reported, the Vorarlberger, founder of a real estate company in Altach, temporarily lent the 51-year-old a lot of money. Also so that Hinterberger can buy her two sisters’ shares and become the sole owner of the farm. The 51-year-old had already taken over her parents’ farm with debts, which recently rose to around 470,000 euros.

Brunauer says he always wanted to help Hinterberger and never harm her. Because her situation was not her fault and she was an “incredibly hardworking woman.” But after two years – that was the deadline for repayment – “something simply had to happen.” Interested parties from all over Austria contacted him for the auction – the starting price for the farm was 262,000 euros.

“We have now also received a call from America. An Upper Austrian who lives there with his wife wants to pay off the rest of the debt. We now just have to wait and see whether this is true,” says Brunauer. The miracle that Hinterberger was hoping for seems to have happened. “I cannot express my gratitude in words. I thank you all, each and every one of you. There are so many people who are in trouble and I have been very lucky. My heart is attached to this farm and I will give everything I have every day, from morning to night, to be able to keep it,” says the farmer in an interview with OÖNachrichten.
