Police helicopter rescues hiker (75, 77) in Kirchdorf district

The hikers were rescued using a police helicopter and brought safely to the valley.

The two hikers from the Gmunden district had actually only planned to walk the Stoderer Dolomitensteig in Hinterstoder. But right at the beginning, according to the police, they deviated from the marked path and followed a wooden path and various game trails – assuming that this was how they would get to the Hochsteinalm.

When they realized their mistake and wanted to go back down the valley without a path, they came across such exposed terrain that they decided to make an emergency call.

The mountain rescue service and Alpine police set out to rescue the lost seniors, but at the same time the police helicopter was also called in. The hikers were finally taken out of the impassable terrain using rope and brought safely into the valley.
