The public prosecutor’s office confirmed to the regional newspaper “HNA” that the girl died on the night of April 26-27. At around 9 p.m., the 13-year-old said “good night” to her mother and went to her room. Shortly before midnight, the teenager was found unconscious and not breathing by her family. The emergency doctor could not do anything for the girl and pronounced her dead.

Investigations revealed that the girl had choked herself for a TikTok video. The 13-year-old recorded the video alone in her room. In the dangerous “blackout challenge,” young people choke themselves until they pass out and then upload videos of it to social media. Several children and young people around the world have already died in this test of courage.
