The dispute had started over a concrete mixer truck that was being driven by a 39-year-old from Klagenfurt to a trench-shaped excavation – a so-called ditch – to be washed out. A 48-year-old worker from the Wolfsberg district disapproved of this. The verbal argument escalated – and in the scuffle both fell into the hole in the ground.
A 34-year-old foreman from Klagenfurt and a 40-year-old truck driver from Ferlach noticed the incident. They tried to calm the situation down. But that didn’t seem to have worked. Eventually, a scuffle broke out between all four men in the hole in the ground, and all of those involved were injured except for the 40-year-old.
