Gerald and Sandra Auinger stand for continuity: the two Gmunden residents have been managing the Alpine Club hut on the Traunstein for 22 years. And the industry magazine “Falstaff” regularly awards them for this.
The previous year, the Gmundnerhütte had already made it into the top ten in Austria with 96 out of 100 possible points, and in 2024 it increased its ranking even further. With 97 out of 100 points, it was once again named the best in the country by “Falstaff”, ranking seventh in Austria.
A total of 818 huts from seven federal states were rated in the categories “food, ambience and service”. The ranking is based on the total and food points.
In the list of the top ten huts in Upper Austria, seven are from the Salzkammergut. The Wiesberghaus (4th), the Adamekhütte (5th), the Goisererhütte (6th), the Katrin Almhütte (7th), the Simonyhütte (9th) and the Sonnenalm (10th) also received awards.
