Pope celebrated mass on the occasion of World Children’s Day

Francis addressed a greeting to children from all over the world. “Let us give hope to young people,” stressed the Holy Father. 50,000 people, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who is the mother of a seven-year-old daughter, and Rome’s Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, took part in the mass in St. Peter’s Square in bright sunshine.

After the Angelus prayer, there was a speech by the director and Oscar winner Roberto Benigni (“Life is Beautiful”). The artist, also known as a comedian, held one of his famous monologues in which he spoke about the importance of childhood. After the end of the mass, the Pope Peter’s Square on board his Popemobile and said goodbye to the cheering crowd.
