The mayor of Montevideo and presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio (FA), Carolina Cosseassured that Uruguay It went from being a country of “great progress” to one of “setbacks and stagnation” during the current government administration and criticized the ruling party for the string of recent scandals.

This Sunday, in an event that brought together the three presidential candidates of the FA in Municipality B of Montevideo, the capital’s presidential candidate regretted the management of the Multicolor Coalition and the current context “with new scandals on the table”, alluding to the consequences of the Penadés case which ended with the resignation of former president of the Board of Directors of the National Party (PN), Pablo Iturralde.

“It is a bitter pill to swallow, not to say it as a Frente Amplista, but deeply as Uruguayans, because no people, no community, deserves a political practice of one scandal after another,” reflected the FA presidential candidate.

“Truly, this regrettable political practice, I say it with respect as a Uruguayan and to the Uruguayans who have voted for parties that are in government today,” said Cosse, who does not consider that the Uruguay is divided in two. “It’s not true,” he said.

In that sense, he pointed out that the vast majority of Uruguayans have the same concerns regarding public security and persists in “the same common problems.”

“Who doesn’t want to live in a society where bullets don’t fly?”

The Montevideo leader went further and said, looking at those present: “Who doesn’t want to live in a society where bullets don’t fly? And I’m not just referring to Montevideo.”

Uruguay knew how to make progress throughout its history and the Broad Front, when we came to government, knew how to process enormous advances,” Cosse recalled.

“This government has no direction, it has intentions, but it has no direction,” said the FA politician, who understands that the national authorities came to power “without preparation” and that they have not developed “team work.”
