The 29-year-old from the Linz-Land district was on the B3 on his way to Mauthausen when his car came off the road in the Windegg area. The car overturned several times between the road and the tracks of the Summerau railway and then came to rest in the adjacent meadow.
Shortly before 1 a.m., two women discovered the injured man and called the emergency services. The 29-year-old had to be taken to the Linz hospital. The Steyregg fire department took care of recovering the vehicle.
It is still unclear whether the man was drunk or otherwise impaired. Why he was able to leave the road in the first place is currently being investigated.
