When the Peuerbach mayor appears on stage with his three uncles

Peuerbach’s mayor Roland Schauer (Citizens’ List) wants to impress with his singing skills. On Wednesday, May 29, he will be on stage in Peuerbach’s castle park together with his three uncles Josef (Pez), Alois and Hans, the “Guitar Brothers”. “I mainly sing Austropop songs by STS, Danzer and Fendrich, but also oldies like ‘Ring of Fire’ or ‘Skandal um Rosi’,” reveals the mayor, who is expecting 1500 to 2000 visitors. Admission is free.

His uncles taught him to play the guitar and sing when he was young, and he learned a lot from Pez, whose son he used to be in a dance band with. Today, the mayor of Peuerbach rarely performs as a musician, most recently on Shrove Tuesday or at the “Sound in the Park Open Air” on the evening before Corpus Christi.

Music as a passion

People like it and many like it. “Some of them come out of curiosity. I want people to see what my passion is,” says Mayor Schauer.

His three musical role models were on the road with different bands when they were younger and played at weddings, balls and parties for many years. They can’t read music, but play purely by ear and taught themselves everything. “When Pez sings, you think Eros Ramazzotti is on stage live, but if you give him a song that he doesn’t know, he’ll get the notes wrong,” says his nephew.

The “Guitar Brothers” have only been performing together in public for five years. The premiere of “Sound im Park” in 2019 attracted around 1,000 visitors straight away. Their repertoire of hits from the 60s to the 80s is not only popular with older audiences. The “Guitar Brothers” will take you back to the time of the Beatles, Bee Gees, CCR and the best Austropop legends. On Wednesday they will start their program with 45 to 50 numbers at 7 p.m., including the encores, the open-air event will last until around 11.30 p.m. The alternative date in case of bad weather is Friday, May 31st.
