A spectacular accident on Monday afternoon ended well for a 44-year-old from Roitham (Gmunden district). The man, who had got behind the wheel of his VW with a blood alcohol level of 1.68 per mille, lost control of his car while driving on Laudachsee Street not far from the “Franzl im Holz” inn. The car came off the road, slid over the embankment, overturned and came to a stop on its roof on the road below.

A police patrol, which happened to be in the area, became aware of the accident a short time later. The driver apparently survived the rollover with minor injuries. He was able to free himself from the damaged car and was cared for by the rescue team. A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.68 per mille, the police announced in the evening. The man will be reported. The Gmunden Volunteer Fire Department was called in to help with the clean-up.
