D-Day marked the beginning of the liberation of Europe from Nazi Germany from the west. The Allied forces at the time consisted mainly of Americans, Britons, Canadians, Poles and French. To commemorate the operation, an international commemoration with heads of state from all over the world is planned on June 6 on the coast in Normandy. Five years ago – on the 75th anniversary of D-Day – Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump took part in the celebrations.
