The plane was being prepared for takeoff to Billund in Denmark on the airport apron when a person was sucked into the already running engine, according to Dutch airline KLM. KLM did not provide any further information about the victim.

The Dutch border police, which is responsible for security at the Netherlands’ largest airport, said the passengers were taken off the plane and the incident was being investigated.

According to Dutch media reports, the plane was a short-haul aircraft made by the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, which belongs to KLM’s regional subsidiary Cityhopper. A picture published by broadcaster NOS showed fire engines and ambulances at the plane near the departure terminal.
